The Library is in urgent need of undergoing transformation as an updated, modern, online and computerized centre of learning and knowledge. There is also a growing demand of the youth to start Career Counselling, Civil & Defense Services Study Circle, Placement facilities by Skill Development as well as Management Orientation and IT Skills for young and old in the town. A separate Section for Senior Citizens as well as local Writers, Poets, Sahityakaars & a separate Children’s Corner/Hobby Centre are envisaged in the coming years.
With the grant received under CSR from the ONGC we have been able to provide a clean modern Wash- Room-cum- Toilet facilities separately for Ladies/Gents. Out of the same grant we have provided an independent residential facility on its First Floor, for our whole time Care-taker on the Campus.
On the Rear, Ground Floor, Drive-in portion of the Library premises with Parking facility a multi-purpose Meeting Room, Board Room, Class Room, Seminar Room, Author’s Lounge or say “Baithak” for Lekhaks, Kavis, Sahityakaars, Kalakaars or Patrakaars who become Members of the Library and wish to meet & chit-chat over a cup of Tea/Coffee has already come up as a Self-Help-Service Facility with the co-operation, patronage and support of the University Women’s Association, Dehradun Chapter.
At this evolving website, recent photographs inside and outside the Library Reading Room depicting its upgradation into a modern, smart and clean educational hub of the town with a congenial and peaceful atmosphere will continue to be added. Your suggestions for further improvement to convert it into a Smart, Online, Human & Digitized Library of Uttarakhand State in general and Dehradun District & Town in particular are welcome.
